Supercharge Your Monday Speed and Agility Training

I was fortunate enough to join Coach Ryan on the field for Monday’s speed and agility session. Players would get more out of the training if they had a little one on one time regarding technique.

When dribbling at speed, players should use the outside of the foot, near the pinky toe, with the toe pointed slightly inward.

Here is a great video to have your player watch…

Have a Move Ready Before You Reach the Line

Players were asked to do a skill move when they reached the line to change directions. Here are 10 easy skills to make a turn when you have reached your line and are heading back.

Don’t Forget Sprinting Technique

The other area that can make a big difference during Monday training is proper sprinting form. Here is a great video focusing on fundamentals of sprinting.

A few simple cues for younger players:

  • Try not to bend forward at the waist once you are up to speed.
  • Pretend you’re holding a bag of chips in each hand. Keep the hands relaxed instead of making tight fists.
  • The arms should drive forward and backward without the shoulders and upper body swinging from side to side.
