This practice will feel a little different. We’re going to keep things moving and build from simple to game-like situations.
The focus is passing, movement, and attacking with purpose.
Arrival Activity – Partner Passing
As players arrive, jump into partner passing.
- Two-touch
- One-touch
- Keep moving after the pass
Focus: clean passes, good first touch, staying active.
Skill Work – Rollover (5 minutes)
We’ll introduce and rep a simple move.
- Rollover across the body
- Push into space
- Add a burst after the move
Keep it quick and sharp.
Drill Phase 1 – 1v1 + Neutral (10–12 minutes)
Setup:
- 4 small goals
- 1v1 in the middle
- Neutral player on the sideline
Rules:
- Each player attacks 2 goals
- Must complete a pass to the neutral before scoring
- Players rotate lines after each turn
Focus:
- Use the pass to create space
- Head up to find goals
- Quick decisions
Drill Phase 2 – 2v2 to 4 Goals (10–12 minutes)
Setup:
- 4 small goals
- 2v2 in the middle
Rules:
- Play to any goal
- New group steps in after each goal
Focus:
- Spacing
- Passing vs dribbling decisions
- Movement off the ball
Transition Game – Numbers Up to Goal (15–20 minutes)
Setup:
- Big goal + keeper
- 2 small goals outside the box
- Coach with balls in the middle
Sequence:
1️⃣ Start – 1v2
- Coach plays ball to striker
- Striker attacks 2 defenders
2️⃣ Transition – 2v1
- After shot or turnover, coach plays to defenders
- Defenders attack small goals (2v1 vs striker)
3️⃣ Final Wave – 3v2
- Immediately, attackers join
- Now it becomes 3v2 going to big goal
- Every attacker must touch the ball
Focus:
- Quick transition mindset
- Finding the advantage
- Moving the ball under pressure
- Finishing with confidence
Crossing & Finishing (10–12 minutes)
Setup:
- 4 lines
- 2 central (strikers)
- 2 wide (wingers)
Action:
- Striker plays wide
- Winger takes a touch and crosses
- Striker finishes
(No defenders — focus on timing and technique)
Focus:
- Quality passes wide
- Good first touch from winger
- Timing the run
- Finishing the play
Final Scrimmage (15–20 minutes) ⚽
Let them play.
Encourage:
- Using width
- Passing before scoring
- Confidence going forward
- Quick transitions
