Skill Moves

These are ball control moves that players can work on daily. Repetition is the key. You don’t need cones or a lot of space—just stay focused on clean technique. Practice all of them or pick 2–3 to focus on each day.

1. Scissor

Step around the front of the ball with one foot to fake a move, then push the ball the opposite direction with the outside of the other foot. Keep your knees bent and body low to sell the fake.

2. Maradona

Spin move used to escape pressure. Drag the ball back with the sole of one foot, turn your body, and pull it again with the other foot to complete the turn. Stay centered over the ball and use your arms for balance.

3. L Drag

Pull the ball back with the sole of your foot, then tap it sideways with the inside of the same foot—forming an “L” shape. Great for slipping away from a defender closing from behind.

4. V Pull

Inside of Foot:

Outside of Foot: Puskas

5. Inside–Outside Touch ( Matthews Cut)

Touch the ball with the inside of your foot, then immediately push it with the outside of the same foot. Try to keep it one fluid motion, almost like a hesitation move to beat a defender.

6. La Croqueta

Push the ball sideways from one foot to the other using the inside of your foot. A quick shift to move past a defender’s reach. Keep your weight on your toes and stay light.

7. Stepover

8. Cryuff Turn

9. Bounce Juggles

This is a great way to build rhythm and control. Let the ball bounce once between each touch. Use your laces (top of your foot) to lift the ball up gently after each bounce. Try to keep it under control without chasing it. Focus on clean contact and timing.
